What exactly is ‘Key Money’?
‘Key Money’ consists of two types of fees:
Reikin, which is a kind of ‘gift’ money to the landlord, is usually equivalent to one (1) month’s rent and is non-refundable.
Shikikin is a large deposit equivalent to anywhere from two (2) month’s rent and up and is refundable to a small percentage.
If I rent an apartment from Apollo Properties, do I need to pay ‘Key Money’?
No. All of ‘Apollo Properties’ rooms and apartments do not require any sort of Key Money or hidden fees.
Is a security/damage deposit required?
Yes. A refundable security/damage deposit is required and is equivalent to one month’s rent. 10,000 yen of the deposit is non-refundable.
Do I need a guarantor?
No. A guarantor is not required; however, proof of proper visa status is required. Also, we need to know the name of your employer or school.
What do I need to do to reserve a room from overseas?
First you need to contact Apollo Properties by filling out a REQUEST FORM. After which, we will send you details of apartment availability for your expected arrival date in Japan. Once you have decided on an apartment that best suits your needs, you will need to send a holding deposit of between 30,000 and 60,000 yen (depending on apartment) by bank transfer.
Will somebody meet me in Osaka and take me to my new apartment?
Yes. After receiving the holding deposit, an information package will be emailed to you describing the best suited meeting place in relation to your apartment and your point entry into Osaka. We will meet you at the designated station outlined in the information package and transport you and your luggage to your new home by van.
What will I need to do in regards to turning on gas, water and electrical services?
Nothing! Apollo Properties will have everything ready and waiting for you when you arrive.
Will there be a phone in the apartment when I arrive?
No. There will not be a phone. However there is generally a phone jack in place should you decide you wish to connect phone line service in your apartment for fax or internet purposes. ‘Apollo Properties’ will be glad to assist you with the details in Japanese should our help be needed when you apply for such services.
Is there a minimum stay period?
Yes. There is a minimum stay period of 3 months. However short stay rates are also available. Please contact us for details and availability.
